11th May 2026

If you’re a market trader, food vendor, charity or small business in Essex, this is the season you’ve been waiting for. And if you’re just looking for brilliant days out across the county, we’ve got you covered there too.
From spring bank holidays right through to late summer, the Essex events calendar is packed. We've pulled together some of the best events happening in 2026, along with a few tips for traders on making sure your setup is ready when the day arrives.
April
April is when things start moving. The Easter bank holidays bring the first outdoor markets of the year.
Craft fairs kick off early across the county starting with Cressing Temple Barns in early April. Regular monthly craft markets run throughout spring and beyond, at venues including Firstsite Colchester, Rayleigh Mill and Leigh Community Centre. Great for browsers and buyers as well as traders.
Trader tip: if your gazebo has been in storage all winter, spring is a great time to get it out and give it a once-over before you need it.
May
May is the busiest month of the quarter. Two bank holidays, longer days and some of the best events of the year all landing in the same few weeks — and plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy them, whatever your reason for going.
The All About Dogs Show returns to Hylands Park, Chelmsford on Sunday 3rd and Bank Holiday Monday 4th May 2026. Billed as the biggest ever All About Dogs Show in Essex, it's a brilliant day out for dog owners, with arena displays, breed meetups, expert advice and masses of doggy shopping. If you sell anything in the pet, outdoor or lifestyle space, it's also a huge footfall event worth being part of. They also run shows at five other UK venues including Suffolk, Newbury, Newark, Norfolk and Knebworth. Worth adding to your 2027 plan if you're thinking ahead.
Right alongside it, the National Flower Show takes place at Hylands House from 15th –17th May 2026. One of the most popular outdoor shows in the county, it celebrates the best of homes and gardens with hundreds of exhibitors, an incredible flower display inside Hylands House, an Outdoor Plant Village and a Fine Food and Drink Pavilion. A brilliant day out for garden lovers, and a well-attended event for traders in the garden, lifestyle and food space.
Head down to Leigh Marina on Sunday 17th May for Essex Foodies Market. They hold monthly markets at Leigh Marina, Maldon Promenade and Hylands Park. So be sure to check their Instagram @essexfoodiesmarket for upcoming dates.
Festival in the Gardens is back for its 8th year at Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens on 23rd & 24th May, with live music, artisanal craft stalls, food and family activities. A well-established community event with a loyal local following. Enjoy a relaxed, friendly and great event, perfect for the whole family.
Also, on 23rd – 24th May, Castle Point Food and Drink Festival takes place on Canvey Island. A great day out for locals and visitors alike, with food, drink, music, family fun and shopping. One for the diary whether you're going to trade or just enjoy it.
Trader tip: if you're planning to exhibit at any summer events, now is a good time to sort your printed gazebo or accessories order out. Production is only around 10 working days from artwork approval, but don't leave it until the week before.
June
June is when the season kicks up a notch. Festivals, food events, community celebrations and outdoor concerts fill the calendar. For visitors, it's one of the best months of the year to be in Essex. For traders, the setups that stand out are the ones that look professional and showcase who you are and what you sell.
State Fayre Festival is a brand new addition to the Essex calendar, taking place at Hylands Park from 26th – 28th June. With Kings of Leon, Alanis Morissette and The Lumineers headlining, it's already one of the most anticipated events of the summer. Three days, huge crowds and plenty of trading and food vendor opportunities alongside the music.

Essex Pride returns to Central Park, Chelmsford on 20th June for its 22nd year. Visitors can enjoy live acts, DJs, cabaret, food and a Pride March through Chelmsford city centre. A joyful, well-attended day out and a fantastic event for traders whose brand connects with the LGBTQ+ community.
July
July is the heart of the outdoor season and Essex delivers. Whether you're after food festivals, live music or a busy market to trade from, there's plenty to choose from.
The Sausage and Cider Festival will be popping up in Colchester on 11th July and Chelmsford on 25th July (and Southend in June). Expect an afternoon of sausages and ciders from around the world, live music, DJs and entertainment, and the option to brave an eating competition if you're up for it. It’s a great day out for food and drink lovers and traders alike.
August
August brings some of the biggest events of the year to Essex, and a few that genuinely draw crowds in the hundreds of thousands.
Clacton Airshow returns to the Essex Sunshine Coast on 27th and 28th August. It’s the largest aviation event on the Essex coast with aerial displays, food stalls, exhibition stands and entertainment on the ground. The Red Arrows have been confirmed to headline both days, making this one of the most anticipated events on the Essex calendar.
The Colchester Castle Summer Series runs throughout August at Lower Castle Park. It’s a series of outdoor concerts with a serious lineup. This summer includes Billy Ocean, Hollywood Vampires featuring Alice Cooper, Becky Hill, Bastille, Richard Ashcroft and Fatboy Slim across consecutive nights in late August. Trader tip: if you're planning to trade at any autumn/winter or Christmas events, September is when to start thinking about your setup.
October
October brings shorter days, cooler temperatures and the start of the festive shopping season. Indoor events and craft fairs start to dominate the calendar.
The Essex County Craft Show at Ingatestone Hall is a well-established autumn show. A popular day out for craft buyers and a great event for makers and independent traders. Check County Events for 2026 dates as they're confirmed.

Trader tip: November markets are busy but competitive. A branded setup, even just a printed tablecloth and a flag, makes a real difference. It's also worth checking whether your gazebo is needed for any outdoor November events before the winter sets in.
December
December is the final push of the year and Essex delivers a brilliant festive calendar. Stay tuned for more event once dates are confirmed.
The Meadow Croft German Market in Wickford runs from September all the way through to 23rd December and it’s free. It’s now a long-running festive favourite celebrating its 10th anniversary, with authentic food, mulled wine and handcrafted gifts.
And if you're heading out just to enjoy the season, most town centres across Essex — Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend, Maldon and Braintree among them — run their own Christmas lights events and festive markets through December. Well worth a wander.
A note on this guide: event dates and details are correct at the time of publishing but can change. Always check directly with event organisers before travelling, especially for ticketed events.

Getting your setup ready
Whether you're heading to one event or ten this season, a few things are worth sorting before you go.
Your gazebo frame
Give it a proper check before your event. If you have a TFH frame and it needs a little TLC, we sell replacement parts, from brackets to roofs and walls, all available on next day delivery.
Your branding
An unprinted gazebo does the job, but a printed one is great for showing people who you are and what you offer. Printed gazebo packages start from £550, and production is 7–10 working days from artwork approval.
Your accessories
Printed flags, tablecloths, half walls and banners are the things that give your setup a little something extra. They're also what visitors notice from the other side of a field.
Your lead times
Printed products take time so get in touch if you want to chat through what’s possible.
We're based in Essex too
TFH Gazebos is based in Ingatestone, and have been helping Essex businesses, traders and organisations get event ready for over 16 years.
If you're heading to any of the events above and want to make sure your setup is sorted, get in touch or feel free to pop down to our showroom which is open Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.
