The world’s greatest rugby tournament is fast approaching, with the first matches kicking off on Saturday, 4 February 2017. Whether you support England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland or Wales, you’ll agree that this year’s Six Nations is set to be an exciting one for all rugby lovers.
Considering hosting a party to celebrate and watch the big game? We’ve put together a guide to help you plan a party to remember.
Go big or go home! If you’ve got lots of friends who are fans of rugby, are part of a rugby club yourself or your local community is full of big fans of the sport, consider throwing your event at a bigger venue such as a pub, community centre or local rugby club.
These venues are great for packing in lots of people and really amping up the atmosphere.
Alternatively, if you’re looking to host a quieter gathering with friends, all you need to do is scale back, stay at home and watch the game from the comfort of your sofa.
Hire a big screen or projector to air the game, decorate to the max with flags, banners and bunting and fans could even sprawl out into the surrounding outdoor areas if you set up a few gazebos. To keep kids and families occupied, you could even host a mini rugby game in the garden.
For at-home party-goers, flag decorations are also a great option, and because there are fewer people at this type of event, you could even purchase party packs that include hats, face paint and balloons for guests.
Most importantly, don’t forget to show your support for your team, whether home or away, by donning your best rugby shirt.
Food and Drink
Keep guests happy and well fuelled with tasty dishes and snacks. If you’re catering for the masses, make your life easier by keeping it simple and serving burgers and dogs. For those at home, you can go to town on snacks and order in a takeaway; that way, you won’t have to worry about cooking and can concentrate on the match.
Don’t forget to keep the drinks flowing and the beer fridge fully stocked!
